Future Deer Farmers Experience

Do you want to learn more about deer farming?

Do you want to join with lots of other young people who are passionate about the deer industry?

Then come and apply for the Future Deer Farmers Experience 2018.
 

Deer Industry New Zealand and the NZ Deer Farmers' Association want to give 3 keen ag students an awesome, up close look at our special industry.

The trip takes place from Monday 10th to Thursday 13th September 2018.

Over the 4 days you will spend time working with and learning from:

  • Awesome deer farmers
  • Venison and velvet marketing companies
  • The 2018 DFA Next Gen workshop attendees.

The chosen students will have all costs for transport, meals and accommodation paid for.
 

Who can apply?

Students studying toward a diploma or certificate in agriculture or farm management can apply, university students will not be considered. Those who have attended deer husbandry courses can also apply. DINZ and the NZDFA will also consider individual recommendations from industry contacts.
 

Applicants will be selected based on:

1. A written submission on why they would like to take part in the tour
2. Two written references, either character or employment
3. Relevant course of study and academic grades

Applications are now open and will close on Wednesday the 22nd August 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday the 24th August 2018.

How can I apply?

You must apply in writing (a letter or an email) explaining why you are interested in the deer industry and would like to take part in the trip.

You must also submit your academic grades along with two written references which can be character or employment related.
