Day 1 -Napier Sailing Club
Starts at 10am
Workshop 1 - Conception and Reproductive Performance - Mating practises and key animal health topics for good conception in yearling and MA hinds. Facilitated by Richard Hilson, Vet Services Hawkes Bay and Deer Farmer
Workshop 2 - Feeding at key times for velvet production – Utilising information from Advance Party project work and the P2P Feeding Theme Group discuss feeding regimes that assist with velvet production and managing stock condition. Facilitated by Pania Flint, Vet Farm Health
Workshop 3 - Business and financial performance analysis – Demonstrating the potential of deer on hill country and how to assess financial performance. Utilising local farmer accounts, review the performance of deer on hill country and what variables have an impact on final profitability within these systems. Facilitated by Paddy Boyd, Haldon Station SCNO.
Day 2 -Farm visit to Grant Charteris's predominantly velvet focused operation in Waipawa
Bus departs from the farm at 3pm for an hour long trip to the airport.
