Research

The behaviour of deer is as fascinating as their distinct biology, particularly their antlers, the leanness of their carcases, their diet preferences, their seasonality and their environmental impacts. These differences are why we have a deer industry. Deer are not small cattle or large sheep, so running a deer industry business well is dependent on distinct deer production, management systems, processing and product knowledge.

To improve industry value, there is a constant need to innovate. Innovation that makes an appreciable difference to the industry, is dependent both on new ideas and giving confidence to those expected to implement them. DINZ aims to do this by supporting research which delivers credible, practicable results that can lead to improved outcomes (through welfare, economics, time, or productivity) considering the diversity of operations within our industry.
