Kusmartono (1996) Rumen digestion and rumen outflow rate in deer fed fresh chicory (Cichorium intybus) or perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne).
          Journal of Agricultural Science
This study compared rumen digestion and rumen outflow rate in deer fed fresh chicory or perennial ryegrass. The results showed that rumen fractional disappearance rate and apparent digestibility were much higher in deer fed chicory than in those fed perennial ryegrass

Stafford, K.J. (1993) Rumino-reticular motility in red deer (Cervus elaphus) fed chaffed lucerne hay during winter and summer.
          NZ Journal of Agricultural Research
Objectives were to determine whether the increased VFI by deer during the summer as compared with winter was accompanied by significant changes in eating, rumination, and/or in the frequency of A sequence rumino-reticular contractions
