The Deer Industry Conference is a highlight of the deer industry year. It often features:
- Thought-provoking international guest speakers
- Presentations on deer industry programmes
- Updates from venison and velvet marketers
- ‘State of the nation’ presentations by the DINZ chair and chief executive
- A great social programme
- The annual industry awards
- The NZDFA Annual General Meeting
- Lots of opportunities to catch up with industry friends
The event is organised by NZDFA and DINZ. If a NZDFA branch wishes to host the event, it is held in the host region.
The conference is normally held in May and is advertised in Events >>

After going virtual last year because of Covid-19, the Deer Industry Conference returned in the flesh in 2021. It was held in Invercargill on 18 & 19 May 2021, followed by ‘P2P in Action’ -- a national technical workshop – on 20 May.

We may have missed out on our traditional face-to-face Deer Industry Conference this year, but the regular updates were still available. The biggest difference was that viewers were able to tune in to watch from the comfort of home. The presentations were split over separate sessions.
The 2020 Virtual Deer Industry Conference was presented in three separate sessions at 1.00 pm on 30 June, 7 July and 14 July. The DINZ team provided brief reports on activity for the year, with time for Q&As. Sarah Perriam directed proceedings as MC.
With running times of only 50–80 minutes, the sessions were recorded and hosted on the DINZ website for viewing at any time.

The 2019 Deer Industry Conference "Reflections and Directions" was held in Wellington on the 16th and 17th of May.
