Environment Southland have recently released their requirements for farms and freshwater Environment Southland Farm Plans, by May 2026 they require all farms in the region to have a certified Freshwater Farm Plan.

Through our Integrated Farm Planning project funding we have teamed up with Ballance Agri-Nutrients Farm Sustainability Services to deliver a workshop, held over 2 days, for you to create a farm plan that will set you on your way towards future council requirements or entry to farm assurance schemes.

Bring your farm map into the digital age during this workshop, learning how to create and use a digital farm map that identifies land classes, high risk and critical source areas, specific infrastructure, land management units and actions of tasks to do, plus many other features.

Understanding what is going on beneath your feet and how you can best manage the microbes, soil properties and nutrients that are beneficial for soil health, plant growth and therefor animal performance is important to ensuring all aspects work well together.

Managing parasites is an ongoing challenge and in the deer industry we have the added complexity of limited tools and resources to do so, but with good management and careful use of the drench available the challenge can be eased.

Farmers are invited to an evening of networking and socialising with the DINZ board and staff.
